Thomas Vaughan 17. yüzyılda İzmir’de çalışmış İngiliz bir tüccardır. Türkçe-İngilizce dilbilgisi konularını inceleyen Vaughan, 1709 yılında, Londra’da A Grammar of the Turkish Language adlı bir kitap yayınlamıştır. Kitabın ilk bölümlerinde Türk dil yapısını incelemiş, ardından Anadolu Türkçesi kullanılan diyalogları Latin harflerine dökmüş ve yanında İngilizce çevirisini vermiştir.

Erika Hitzigrath Gilson, Vaughan’ın hayatı hakkında çok az bilgi bulunduğunu yazar ve Levant Şirketi’yle bağlantılı olduğunu da ekler.
